The Mexican meth industry had been pioneered in that previously time by two brothers, Luis and Jesús Amezcua. They came to California illegally as Little ones, and ultimately ran an automobile store around San Diego. The story goes that a local meth cook dropped by their shop in about 1988, asking Jesús if he could usher in ephedrine from Mexico.
